Your garage records stay on your device by default.

Information you may choose to store

• Vehicle details such as year, make, model, trim, nickname, mileage, and VIN.
• Maintenance tasks, status inputs, dates, mileage, costs, notes, and service providers.
• Service history, receipt/photo attachments, reference specs, parts, and fluids.
• CSV records, owner’s-manual text, and official-manual search results you choose to import or review.
• An Anthropic or OpenAI API key if you choose optional AI-assisted manual extraction.

These records are stored locally using Apple system storage. GarageKeeper does not currently sync them through iCloud or a GarageKeeper server.

When information leaves your device

GarageKeeper sends or shares information only when you start a feature that requires it:

• VIN decode: the VIN is sent to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vPIC service after you request decode. The result is used for identity details, not a maintenance schedule.
• Official manual lookup: vehicle identity details are sent to a supported manufacturer source after you start a lookup.
• Optional AI extraction: selected manual text and vehicle context are sent directly to Anthropic or OpenAI after you choose a provider, provide your own API key, and consent for that import. The provider’s terms govern its processing.
• Exports: CSV or PDF files leave GarageKeeper only through a destination you select in Apple’s share sheet.
• Purchases: Apple processes GarageKeeper Pro purchases and restoration through StoreKit. GarageKeeper receives verified entitlement status, not your payment credentials.
• Support: information leaves your device only when you choose to email support and include it.

AI-assisted manual extraction

This feature is off by default. GarageKeeper uses the API key you provide for the chosen service. The key is stored in Apple Keychain on your device and is not bundled with the app or sent to KLR Web Solutions. Generated suggestions remain review candidates until you approve them. Consult the chosen provider’s privacy and retention terms before use.

Local preferences and Apple features

GarageKeeper may store setup progress, selected settings, entitlement cache, and review-prompt milestones in local preferences. These counters are not analytics and are not sent to KLR Web Solutions. The app may also use Apple’s local notifications, widgets through an App Group snapshot, Siri Shortcuts/App Intents, file and photo pickers, and system share sheet.

Exports are not full backups

Raw CSV files contain their declared service-history or specification fields. They do not include attachment image bytes, app settings, or every relationship needed to restore the full app state. Review an export before relying on it, and keep important original receipts separately.

Tracking, analytics, and advertising

GarageKeeper does not include analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. It has no custom account system or custom data backend.

Data deletion and device loss

You can delete individual records in the app. Deleting GarageKeeper through iOS removes its local app data. Because iCloud sync is not currently included, uninstalling the app or losing the device may make records unrecoverable. User-created exports are managed wherever you chose to save them.

Changes to this policy

If GarageKeeper adds a materially different data practice, including iCloud sync or a developer-operated service, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that feature is released.
