GarageKeeper Privacy Policy

GarageKeeper stores your vehicle maintenance data on your device by default. The app does not have accounts, does not use a custom backend, does not include analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not sell data.
Information You May Choose to Store
- Vehicle identity details such as year, make, model, trim, VIN, nickname, and mileage.
- Maintenance tasks, service history, dates, mileage, costs, notes, and service providers.
- Receipt/photo attachments, specs, parts, fluids, and notes.
- CSV records, owner's manual text, and official manual search results you choose to import or review.
- Anthropic or OpenAI API keys if you choose to use AI-assisted manual extraction.
How Data Leaves Your Device
Most GarageKeeper data stays on your device unless you choose an action that sends or shares it.
- VIN decode sends the VIN to NHTSA vPIC only when you request decode.
- Official manual lookup sends vehicle identity to supported manufacturer manual sources only after you start a lookup.
- AI-assisted manual extraction sends selected owner's-manual text and vehicle identity to Anthropic or OpenAI only after you enable it for that import and choose a provider.
- Exports leave the app only through destinations you choose in the system share sheet.
- GarageKeeper Pro purchases are processed by Apple's StoreKit in-app purchase system.
AI-Assisted Manual Extraction
AI-assisted manual extraction is off by default. If enabled, GarageKeeper uses the API key you provide for the selected provider. AI output is saved only as a review candidate until you approve it. Your AI provider API key is stored in Keychain on your device and is not bundled with the app.
Local Features
GarageKeeper may use Apple's local frameworks for local notifications, widgets through an App Group snapshot, Siri Shortcuts/App Intents, file/photo selection, and the system share sheet.
Tracking and Analytics
GarageKeeper does not include tracking SDKs, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, a custom account system, or a custom backend.
iCloud Sync
GarageKeeper does not currently sync your data with iCloud. If iCloud sync is added later, this policy and App Store privacy answers will be updated before release.
