Getting started

1. Add a vehicle manually, or use VIN decode for identity details.
2. Enter current mileage or mark it unknown.
3. Choose at least one editable starter task. Starter intervals are generic estimates, not a factory schedule.
4. Log service from the Garage, vehicle, task, or history screen as work is completed.
5. Turn on local reminders when GarageKeeper offers them, or manage them later in Settings.

What works in Free?

GarageKeeper Free includes one vehicle, maintenance tasks, service history, mileage, local reminders, one receipt photo per vehicle, three reference specs per vehicle, raw history/spec CSV copies, widgets, and Siri Shortcuts. Existing records remain readable even when Pro is unavailable.

GarageKeeper Pro and Restore Purchases

Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. The App Store purchase sheet shows the current localized price before you confirm. It adds unlimited vehicles, receipts and specs, parts and fluids catalogs, polished PDF reports, import tools, supported official-manual discovery, and optional bring-your-own-key AI extraction.

If you already purchased Pro

1. Make sure the device is signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase and has an internet connection.
2. Open GarageKeeper → Settings → GarageKeeper Pro → Restore Purchases. Restore is also available on the Pro screen.
3. Let the restore finish, then return to the feature you were using. GarageKeeper also rechecks verified access when the app becomes active.
4. If access still does not appear, restart the app and email support with the app version and exact message shown. Do not email purchase credentials.

If a purchase is marked pending, Apple has not completed it yet; GarageKeeper cannot unlock Pro until StoreKit verifies the transaction. For billing or refund requests, use Apple’s Report a Problem.

Imports, exports, and data copies

• Raw service-history and specs CSV exports are free.
• CSV files contain the fields named in the file, but not receipt images or app settings. They are portable copies, not full restorable backups.
• VIN decode sends the VIN to NHTSA vPIC only when requested and identifies the vehicle; it does not supply a maintenance schedule.
• Manual, CSV, or AI-assisted maintenance suggestions stay in review until you approve them.
• Optional AI extraction uses an Anthropic or OpenAI API key you provide. Note the provider and import method when reporting an issue, but never send the key itself.

Before contacting support

• Confirm the device runs the iOS version listed on the current App Store product page.
• Force quit and reopen GarageKeeper once.
• Include the GarageKeeper version, iOS version, vehicle count, and exact steps that reproduce the issue.
• For import issues, say whether the source was CSV, local PDF text, official manual lookup, Anthropic, or OpenAI.
• Redact identifying or sensitive information from any screenshot.

Current limitations

GarageKeeper does not currently include iCloud sync, dealer/CARFAX import, or bundled factory maintenance schedules. Core records work offline; VIN decode, online manual lookup, optional AI extraction, and purchase verification require their respective network services.
